My wife and I have are buying a home, and used my mother in law as a non-occupant co-borrower. It is our first home, and we received an FHA loan. Can we still qualify for the First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit even though we have a non-occupant co-borrower who owns a house already?
We are buying a home for the first time but we are owner financing it. This home is his grandmother’s home and we are actively in the process of setting up the owner financing with her and the bank. Since we aren’t borrowing money from the bank but paying to his grandmother and the house will still be in our name and we will be paying taxes on it, are we still eligble for the first time home buyer credit signed yesterday as long as the process is completed by the end of the year?
Keep hearing that the first time home buyer credit can now be used for a down payment. Trying to find out if that is true or what the qualifications/requirements are for that.
I applied on 2/24/2009 for the first time home buyer owners credit and have heard nothing ,do you have any knowedge where i can call or ck.Thanks for your help.
According to the first time hope buyer credit info on publication 17 it states that you had to have purchased you home after April 8 2009. Whats the deal with that? Why April? Why not January 1, 2008? I bought my house on March 6th but could not move in Until April 15th because the house was not inhabitable. I assume i do not qualify.
