First time home buyer in Pennsylvania – any benefits available?

myspacejunkie asked:

I know that there are programs out there for first time home buyers. The problem is that when I google it, I get a myriad of sites, most of which are “grants” that are not really grants but rather clever marketing tactics used by mortgage companies. Any suggestions?

You cannot hurt yourself by talking to a large & reputable mortgage company to just probe them for information!

    I’d suggest Countrywide Home Loans.

Fill out the free evaluation form at

They have an extensive network of loan officers who specialize in FHA loans. Good luck.

You have already proven that you are smarter than the average mortgage applicant.

First time home buyer programs are mostly hot air. The only legitimate ones are the ones offered by HUD. I don’t even get into those because they create a problem with the financing.

My best suggestion is to talk to a mortgage broker. Looking past the “grants”, there are other ways to reduce your closing costs if that is your goal. It’s easier now more than ever to finance 100% of your new home.

    Best of luck!

Yes, there are first time buyer grant programs available in certain counties in PA as well as the First Front Door program for residents of PA, DE and WV. Check out the site below for details.

    Good luck!
