Our bank was happy to find out if we were eligible. Give a bank a try. If they have half a chance, they want to try to get you to finance your home through them, so they want to make you as happy as they can.

You can contact a HUD broker or check out the HUD.gov website.
Also, check to see what programs are offered in your state to see if you qualify for downpayment or closing costs grants/assistance.
